Institute Business and Research Manager (Population Health Research Institute)

Are you passionate about supporting Population Health research?

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated individual for the position of Institute Business and Research Manager for the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI). PHRI addresses a wide range of population health conditions and their determinants across the lifecourse. The role is crucial in the facilitation and implementation of the institute strategic objectives.

Working with the Institute Director and Section Heads, the Institute Business and Research Manager will be responsible for driving new initiatives to facilitate research collaborations, assist with fostering a research-intensive and business-minded culture to increase income, and to promote the profile of the Institute. 

In addition, they will oversee an area of operational administration including line management responsibilities across the Research Institutes. They will be part of a team of managers siting in Research Operations working together to provide support across the four research institutes. 

The successful candidate will have experience of both research and operational management and will have the ability to manage and resolve complex situations

Key attributes of the successful applicant include:

  • Experience of administrative management in a research/academic setting or business setting.
  • Experience of research project co-ordination including monitoring the preparation of and management of funding applications, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of financial/budgetary management and reporting systems, with ability to interpret and summarise data accurately. 
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to work independently, adapt quickly, prioritise tasks, manage conflicting deadlines, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work, communicate and collaborate with individuals from varying disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
